Even with enough rain in the forecast to remind us that we live on the West Coast, the spirits in Steveston will not be dampened. Rain or shine, with the big party at the Cannery there is no shortage of things to do, see and celebrate this weekend.

Music at the Cannery: The Gulf of Georgia Cannery and G&F Financial Group are bringing us music every Friday as part of their summer music series. Drop by outside the Cannery at 6:30pm to hear this week’s artist, Gerry Layton.

Parks Day at the Cannery: It seems like everywhere you go someone is turning 100. Well Parks Canada is no exception. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery is helping Parks Canada celebrate their 100th birthday with free admission, free cake, music by Swing 2 Beat as well as Parks-themed kids crafts. Grab your sweetie and/or your camera and join them for a “Strolling Through Steveston” historical walking tour. Tour begins at 2pm and there is a cost for admission.

Old Fashioned #Steveston “Tweetup”: [Tweetup – where a bunch of Twitter-ers meet]. Join us for a little get together at Rocanini in Steveston, Saturday evening at 7:30pm. No agenda, nothing fancy. It’ll be just like the way the early Twitter pioneers did it.

Steveston Farmers Market: It’s hard not to put an exclamation mark after that title. From the sights of artsy crafts to smells of fresh produce, Kettle Corn, and fresh bread there is something for everyone at this Sunday afternoon event. Don’t forget to leave home with an empty stomach because you’ll want to stop by Eli’s Serious Sausage for the legendary bratwurst.
